Block Practicing: Is it missing from your daily to-do list?

Day in and day out, it can feel like we have a never-ending to-do list.

And while you may often tick off each daily task, have you ever considered the one thing that is missing from that to-do list?

You may not even be aware it’s missing, and it is what my son’s golf coach calls “Block Practicing.”

While this term may be a foreign concept to you, it is something every chiropractor should understand and practice.

Here is what this term means and why it’s so crucial for you.

But first, a little more about Kevin Weeks…

The concept of “Block Practicing” comes from Kevin Weeks, a coach and true expert in his field. With over 30 years of experience, he has trained PGA professionals and is featured on the Golf Channel. He is a leader in the industry and knows how to get results.

I was intrigued by him, not just because of his success and knowledge but also because of his approach. I pay close attention when he speaks—his hourly rate says it all.

Diving deeper into Block Practicing

So, what is Block Practicing, and how does it apply to you?

Block Practicing is all about focusing on one skill and repeating it over and over again.

You know, the whole concept behind the phrase “practice makes perfect.” That approach applies here. And while this strategy may sound repetitive and, for some, boring, guess what?

It is what separates champions from the rest.

Are you ready to achieve greatness?

Those willing to commit to the practice it takes to succeed are the ones who get to the top.

Yes, I understand it may not be the most exciting thing in the world—doing the same thing over and over. However, it is the secret to achieving true greatness.

Think of it like Chinese water torture, a punishment tactic that pushes people to the brink of insanity. And while this example is extreme, the same lessons apply. Pushing yourself to the point of boredom or even discomfort is what winners do. You must be willing to go that extra mile every day to win.

Many are scared of boredom

I know the statement that many are frightened by boredom may seem odd. However, it’s true.

Boredom itself is an experience and an emotion—it is what happens when you don’t feel anything else. And for many, that is uncomfortable. When you have no activity or goal you’re pursuing, no feelings or emotions toward anything specific, you’re forced to think more broadly.

The above statement is true, and while each of us approaches boredom differently and under varying circumstances, there is a lesson to be learned.

If we, as humans, can endure and even embrace boredom, we can experience a world of abundance, prosperity, and abundance.

I watched my son and learned the value of Block Practicing

Something clicked as I sat in the comfort of heated leather seats one day while my 14-year-old son actively pursued Block Practicing.

It was a rainy, windy day, and he was out there practicing a specific shot. He used one club, one swing (which is called a ‘half wedge shot’ for all you golfers out there), one direction, and one distance—over and over again.

Kevin Weeks has seen the value of this approach, and my son has implemented it to achieve results.

Moral of the story?

Schedule “Block Practices” into your life. This approach is the difference between being mediocre and CRUSHING it, and it can be applied to any skill you need to improve, including strategic chiropractic sales and communicating the value of what you do.
