Milton Friedman Sales Advice for Chiropractors
Milton Friedman once said:
“You cannot be sure that you are right unless you understand the arguments against your views better than your opponents do.”
That is also one hell of a sales lesson.
Because most Closers do not understand the prospect’s objection.
They understand the answer they were trained to puke back at it.
“Too expensive.”
“We have financing.”
“I need to think about it.”
“What exactly do you need to think about?”
“I need to talk to my spouse.”
“Let’s get them on the phone.”
Cool.
You memorized the objection-handling flash cards.
You still do not understand the fucking objection.
Because “too expensive” might mean:
I do not trust you.
I do not understand the value.
I have been burned before.
I am scared this will not work.
I do not want to admit I cannot afford it.
My spouse controls the money.
Or…
This is genuinely too expensive.
Those are seven completely different conversations.
Great CLOSERS do not rush to defeat objections.
They get curious enough to understand them better than the prospect can explain them.
They can make the argument against buying almost better than the person sitting across from them.
Because when you truly understand why someone should not move forward…
You stop sounding like a salesperson trying to win.
And start sounding like a trusted expert trying to help them make the right decision.
That is the difference between handling an objection…
And actually understanding a human being.
